Album „No Sleep ‚til Hammersmith“ završilo pro Motorhead veleúspěšný rok 1981. Singl „Ace Of Spades“ vyšplhal na čtvrtou příčku britské hitparády, alba „Overkill“ a „Bomber“ se těšila přízni publika i novinářů, a kapela byla na turné po Velké Británii, kdy během pouhých 34 dnů odehrála 32 koncertů, z čehož pramení název alba, který mu kapela dala podle nápisu na jednom z tour-busů.
